What Vitamins Are Good For Hair Loss

What Vitamins Should I Take To Improve My Hair, Skin And Nails?
The biggest news recently about beauty, especially hair, skin, and nail health, revolves around the ability of vitamins and minerals to help skin be healthy and young looking. Nutrients, vitamins, and minerals can promote hair growth, healthier looking hair, and help strengthen nails so they don’t chip and break. This means not just nutrients found in lotions and creams that go on the skin, but those that are found naturally in the food we eat, and in vitamin and mineral supplements that can be taken to help improve hair, skin, and nails from the inside out.

Vitamin and mineral supplements added to a healthy diet can make such a difference that you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a full regimen of skincare products. Fortunately, most of the same things that are good for your skin will also work to give you healthy hair and nails; that makes taking a supplement so much simpler!

Vitamins C and E
As far as your skin goes, both vitamin C and E are very important in stopping the negative effects of too much exposure to the sun, such as wrinkles and ageing. Vitamin E has been shown to decrease sun damage and wrinkles and smooth out the texture of skin. Long term use of both of these vitamins can reduce the chances of getting sunburnt and vitamin C can help with collagen formation.

For skin, hair, and nails, both vitamin C and E act as antioxidants. Vitamin E and C improve blood circulation (and nutrient delivery) to the scalp, resulting in healthier hair. C and E taken as a supplement and in a topical lotion can reverse the damage caused by free radicals, and help replace collagen and elastin.
Vitamin C also promotes healthy nails. Hangnails can be caused by a deficiency in Vitamin C. You can get vitamin C from leafy green vegetables, citrus (such as a lime, grapefruit and oranges), and cherries. A powder form of supplement is probably the easiest way to digest synthesised vitamin C. Just mix it in with juice.

Vitamin A
If the levels of vitamin A in your body are too low, you may experience things like dry and flaky skin as well as dry scalp. Vitamin A is important for maintaining healthy skin and repairing damaged skin. There are also vitamin A lotions that can significantly reduce wrinkles, and even help control acne.

Taking a vitamin A supplement (or beta carotene) helps the scalp produce the oils it needs to avoid flakiness and dryness. Pregnant women need to seek advice before taking vitamin A and everyone needs to be careful not to over do it. Too much can be toxic.

Vitamin K
In our bodies, the job of vitamin K is to help with blood clotting. For the skin it works to reduce dark circles under the eyes as well as fade bruising, especially when used as a topical cream. Vitamin K is made by bacteria in the gut so keeping your insides healthy helps with the production of vitamin K. A routine to support the intestines and stomach may be one way to keep your good tummy bugs happy and healthy and busy producing vitamin K.

Biotin (Vitamin B7)
One of the B vitamins, biotin, may one of the most important supplements you can take for you skin, hair and nails. Biotin (B7) is a nutrient contained the cells of our hair, nails, and skin. When you don’t have enough biotin, itchy skin and scalp result as well as hair loss. Try a multi-B supplement that contains biotin and as well as Niacin, B5, B6, and B12, all of which are important for healthy skin, hair and nails.

Minerals for Hair, Skin, and Nails
Like vitamins C and E, the minerals copper, selenium and zinc, can help develop elastin to make skin tighter and smoother. They also have other benefits and are usually included in good multi-vitamin supplements specifically for hair and nails.

Check with Your Doctor
Before you begin taking anything new, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor to make sure that they won’t have any negative reactions with any medications you may be taking. The doctor can also advise you on safe dosages to take each day. Be sure to read the label and only take the recommended daily dose.

As complementary therapies are not tested in the same way as pharmaceutical drugs they have varying levels of effectiveness, so try a few different brands till you find a product that works well for you.

You need to use a hair treatment like provillus. It has all the vitamins your hair needs and much more.I’ve used it and I had very good results.Provillus contains the only FDA-approved topical ingredient clinically proven to re grow hair.

If you are looking for something which can aid you with your hair loss problem, then Provillus may offer one of the best choices of remedy. Hair loss can be a cause of various factors such as stress, frequent use of shampoos and conditioners containing a lot of chemicals and others.

Provillus offers the best possible and perennial solution for this problem for both men and women. One of the best parts of the provillus treatment is that it uses natural ingredients. This has accounted for its rising popularity. Thus it leaves the other products behind in this context, since most of the products contain harmful chemicals.

Provillus basically functions by removing the main cause of hair loss i.e. DHT. DHT damages the hair follicles and is responsible for the thinning of hair. It also restricts the re-growth of new hair. Provillus prevents its formation and it also promotes the growth of the new hair.

You might be wondering whether what makes its treatment effective and popular. Well the natural ingredients which it uses work on your scalp and thus provide the best solution without any side effects. Thus it has a higher rating over other such products available in the market.

Well you might be aware that it is available for both men and women. The saw palmetto extract is basically present in the men’s version whereas a combination of acids is present in the female version. Thus in addition to the solution of problem of hair loss it also nourishes hair.

  12. QUESTION:
what is vitamin b12.is the b vitamins good for hair.and watv else are.?
i heard from some1 that it is good for hair loss.is this true.plz some1 tell me also wat vitamins or things r good for hair thining because i suffer from little bald patches and hair thinning.thanku

    • ANSWER:
vitamin B-12, also called cobalamin, is a water soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the eight B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the human body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation, but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production. As the largest and most structurally complicated vitamin, it can be produced industrially only through bacterial fermentation-synthesis.

This quote is from wikipedia. Generally all the range of B vitamins supplement each other so there’s not much point taking just one of them as a supplement. However vitamin B12 is the exception to this if you are a vegetarian because it is difficult to find in any foods except animal based foods.
Lack of B12 can cause memory problems, weakened spine and poor eyesight.
My friend is vegetarian and he doesn’t bother with supplements. Sometimes his memory is so bad he forgets he’s married!!!

    • ANSWER:
yes! this web page stoplosinghairnau totally SUCKS! it is SCAM! never ever buy this product because you will lose all your hair!

hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago I suffered from hair loss and since hair loss is hereditary my dad suffered from it too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss. the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A – an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The ‘B’ vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

      good luck!

What vitamins should I be taking for hair loss (woman)?
I am a 26/f. I have been having hair loss for the past 6+months. Doesn’t seem normal. When I take a shower, I run my fingers through my hair and 4-5strands come out at a time. I am wondering if it is because I wear my hair up in a ponytail 24/7?! It doesn’t run in the family. I want to start taking a good vitamin to see if that is the cause. Any recommendations? Can wearing a normal ponytail cause the loss?

Yes, the ponytail if it is wrapped too tight could cause the hairs to come loose.

  18. QUESTION:
Can taking Prenatal Vitamins with Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo Help Stabilize Hair Loss?
I’ve been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a year and been losing a good amount of hair ever since I started taking it. My doctor is switching me to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, so I hope that might help. I’ve had many people (including one doctor) recommend taking prenatal vitamins, saying it’ll help. It’s to the point where I really don’t want to be on birth control anymore. What do you guys think?

    • ANSWER:
The reason for taking vitamins while on birth control is because oral contraceptives deplete many important nutrients. Some of the nutrients depleted by oral contraceptives are extremely important for healthy hair growth. This includes zinc, B vitamins, vitamin c, selenium, magnesium and more. Vitamin depletion is not the only reason that oral contraceptives cause hair loss in some people. It is also due to the hormonal manipulation and the subsequent physiological changes. One has no way of predicting how the pill will effect them until it is in the system for several months. Sometimes the pill will help a hair loss problem and other times it will cause a hair loss problem. Unfortunately when birth control starts the hair loss process, it can take more than just getting off or changing pills to reverse the process. For some women it becomes a vicious cycle of starting, stopping and changing pills. If you really don’t want to be on the pill anymore that may be your body’s way of telling you it’s not right for you???? If you go on the new pill and take vitamins (it doesn’t have to be prenatal) I hope it works for you. You can also try using essential oil scalp treatments to stimulate new growth and keep hair growing healthy. More info in the link below.

Can a starting a vegetarian diet cause hair loss or hormonal changes?
I have been on a vegetarian diet for 4 months now. I have been experiencing hair loss and fluctuations in my menstrual cycle. Can someone please give me some kind explanation and/or advice on what to do?
PS I have been taking multi-vitamins and they haven’t worked to keep my hair from falling out. I recently started prenatal vitamins in the hopes of better prevention towards the hair loss.

    • ANSWER:
If you are not anemic and are eating a balanced varied diet then you should be perfectly fine.
A vegetarian diet does not equal hair loss or menstrual cycle issues.
A multi-vitamin and a prenatal vitamin both do not help with, or cause, hair loss.
      Talk to a doctor!
You clearly have a medical issue(s) going on – and it is not from your diet.

Also, what is good multi vitamin to boost your energy level? I’m always tired. I wish I had more energy. Any help would be appreciated.
you mean zinc for the hair loss or for the multivitamin?

    • ANSWER:
Zinc is best known to effect hair loss when there is an absence of a substantial amount of the nutrient. Zinc deficiency not only produces problems with hair loss, but also with changes in the scalp. The scalp may become too dry or flaky and may often times be irritated because of the lack of nutrients. There are many times where zinc has also shown to be effective in stopping hair from turning gray.

Vitamin A, C, E and B are all equally important. Read this article which explains in detail http://myhairloss.googlepages.com/hairlossanditspsychologicaleffectonwomen2

  28. QUESTION:
Can hair loss in women be related to a vitamin dificiency?
I have been experiencing some extreme hair loss for many months now and I’ve gone to get blood work which has turned out pretty okay (very mild iron dificiency), thyroid is good, so are hormones etc. My hair has aways fallen out easily since I was little and it almost seems that my hair aside from being fine and thin comes off from the roots (scalp). Could it be that there’s a vitamin or mineral dificiency in me? If so, what kind and how can I take care of it? I’m concerned because I’ve never lost so much hair as I have now. I don’t feel like I’m stressed, no trauma so what is it? Haven’t given birth, no surgery etc. I’m actually now going to cut my hair shorter to hopefully help stop the hair loss but how can I make my hair stronger so it doesn’t fall off my scalp so easily?
My doctor just checked the testosterone level and that’s is okay too.

    • ANSWER:
Maybe but not likely. You might need more protein. If you are on a vegetarian diet then that is probably the reason. I lost a beautiful head of hair by becoming vegetarian. Now it is taking me years to get my hair back and a lot of money on doctor visits.

Stress can lead to hair loss. I lost tons of hair when I was eating too much tofu and soy products because it blocked my thyroid medication.

My guess would be stress, even though you say no, you could be internalizing your stress.

Try yoga and take prenatal vitamins. I have some friends who swear by them for healthier hair and nails.

Yes, Rogaine will help but it is expensive and if you stop using it; all the hair you have grown will fall out.

  29. QUESTION:
i have a hair loss problem.. i was on a diet and now i’m losing my hair..?
well everytime i comb my hair it falls … a lot of it falls … and i don’t want to lose it … my hair is strait .. if that helps ..
what foods are good for hair loss problems ??
i know protein and vitamin B … but what are foods rich in them …

please help me … thank you

    • ANSWER:
I also agree with what everyone has said, it sounds as if it is due to your diet, it lacks in the correct vitamins or protein. Did you also know, though, that hair loss can be due to stress? When you are stressed, you will lose more strands of hair. Also, our bodies go through changes twice a year for me, for three months (or so) I will lose a lot of hair, then it will be normal again. According to the girls I work with, the same thing will happen to them too.

I am almost 21, female, new mother of a almsot 8 month old happy healthy boy, no pregnancy complication, although I ended up with uterine calcifiation and dilated 1cm of the eustachian tube, I bled for 6 1/2 months after delivery.. I didn’t get much sleep while I was pregnant, (because the Donar, is a piece of, work..=( ) and I didnt get much sleep after the baby was born either.. I know being pregnant, all the nutrients go to the baby, but I don’t know how much was left for myself. me and the dad are now separated and he has nothing to do with the baby, so I am a hard workin single moma, doin the dand thang.. I was diagnosed with adhd at a young age. Which I am prescribed adderall for.. I have been all my life without medication for my adhd bc I felt like th doctor was a quack just trying to dose me up.. I feel like I’ve got bugs crawling on me constantly, whether its the medicine, or my hair shedding, i dont know.. but I am trying to eat healthier/more, but nothing seems to be helping.. as of tomorrow I am going to stop taking my adderall.. but as far as putting more life back into myself, perhaps eating healthier? or do I need vitamins? do I need to work out? I do go on walks a lot already.. Can some one guide me the right way please? am I suppose to eat certain amounts of certain types of food each day?? perhaps a food pyramid to look at maybe?

    • ANSWER:
Firstly, some hair loss several months after a pregnancy is normal, because the hormonal changes of a pregnancy lessen normal hair loss to almost nil. So then all that extra hair falls out afterward.

However, nutritional deficiencies can also cause hair loss. And there does seem to be an Adderall link.
It may take months of proper eating to resolve the nutritional deficiencies of your pregnancy, so if nothing happens right away, don’t worry.

Please don’t discontinue the medication without checking with the doc, or at least letting them know. You could ask about nutrition at the same time, too.

I would recommend a diet high in protein, as your amino acids are probably “messed up”. Lean meats and fish, and an egg daily, along with some yogurt daily. Eggs and yogurt are high in zinc and iron and tyrosine, one amino acid associated with Adderall. Zinc and iron deficiency is associated with hair loss, too.

Be sure to load your diet with deep green, leafy veggies (like spinach!) and lots of varied colors of other veggies and fruits. Sometimes Adderall can create an unbalance of magnesium and calcium, so milk products are a good bet, as low amounts of those minerals are also associated with pregnancy.
It sounds like you also need lots of carbs for energy and weight gain.
The Adderall/nutrition deficiency has yet to be borne out through scientific studies, but the suggestion is there. Since it isn’t conclusive, please ask your prescribing physician.

I realize this is an expensive prescription. See if you can get help at social services if you need it.

And if you want to be certain, blood tests can ascertain exactly where the deficiencies are so you can properly address them. I wouldn’t take supplements until that was done, other than perhaps a good multivitamin/mineral one a day type thing. Get it at a health food store…some of the stuff at the drug store is just horrendous! A capsule preparation is best.

Again- it took a long time to deplete your body of nutrients and regaining them won’t happen in 2 or 3 weeks. Lots of protein, vegs and fruits, complex carbs, avoid caffeine, see the doc with any questions or concerns.

      Hope all is well! ~

  33. QUESTION:
What is a good shampoo for thinning hair?
Has anyone used a shampoo to help with hair loss that has worked? I am noticing my hair thinning and lots of hair in my brush. Started taking extra vitamin supplements, specially biotin. Now I need to use a special shampoo if there is any that will help stop further hair loss. thanks

  34. QUESTION:
What are some good hair products for extremely damaged hair?
Well I have pretty limp hair so I tease my hair… a lot. I use a LOT of products such as moose, gel, hairspray, etc. Every time I wash my hair, chunks of my hair fall out. I’m starting to notice my hair, which was once extremely thick, is starting to thin even more and it’s actually made me depressed. I’ve been crying so much because I am scared of having bald spots. I take vitamins and I eat right, so I know it’s not that. I know it’s from my products. So does anybody know some good hair treatments that can maybe help with my horrible hair loss? KEEP THEM CHEAP PLEASE!! I do not have hundreds of dollars to spend on this…

    • ANSWER:
Well your hair is probably damaged because of all the products you put on it at once, that is definitely not healthy for your scalp. You can try mixing olive oil and egg yolk together and applying it to your hair after you shampoo – I researched this when my hair was damaged and it helped. Make sure you rinse it out well, the olive oil really cleanses out the hair well and fixes up most damages, you should do that about 3/4 times a week.

As for shampoos you should use Suave Juicy Green Apple Shampoo, that would keep your hair healthy, since it is filled with Vitamin E to keep the hair natural and it’s only about 3 bucks. Or you could use Tresemme. Both great, try to lighten up on all the hair products at once and relax you won’t get bald spots.

      Good luck. :-)

I’m 14 with PCOS and major scalp hair loss, PLEASE HELP!?
What are the best hair vitamins to take that keep your hair from thinning out and that will make your hair grow faster? Is the herb Saw Palmetto okay for a 14 year old girl with hair loss. 36. QUESTION:
What are the best vitamins/supplements to help make hair grow longer and thicker?
What could cause a 22 yr old girl’s hair to start getting really, really thin??? My hair has never been really thick and full, and lately I have noticed that it is starting to get unusually thin and sparse. :((

I have tried a number of different shampoos and always use a good conditioner, so mistreatment is not what is causing this problem. I have never even had it dyed or done anything else that could unnaturally damage it. It is not shedding very much now, but I noticed a lot of shedding earlier this yr. I think that is part of why it is soo thin now. I just don’t know what caused it, or why it doesn’t seem to be growing back thickly like it should. The only causes I can think of are that I did not take care of myself(didn’t eat well, get enough sleep, and was under a lot of stress from college) during the spring of this yr. I was also on accutane last yr. Could it be possible that my hair loss is caused by taking accutane a yr ago?

I have heard that prenatal vitamins are good for my problem and am thinking about trying them. Is there a certain kind that works best? Also are there any herbal supplements for growing hair that actually work? Thanks for any answers or suggestions!

    • ANSWER:
Shampoos & conditioners are meant to clean & condition your hair. They say anything to make the consumers buy their product, it’s part of marketing, window treatment, NOT MEANT to grow hair as you’ve experienced.

Prenatal works because women suddenly stopped ‘abusing’ their hair by adding chemicals on their hair because they’re now pregnant.

You get all your vitamins & minerals & proteins FREE from the good foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man, and no shampoo can help grow hair, not even those made for horses. Horses don’t abuse their hair, using heating tools, and they eat better than people, but it won’t add more hair & make their hair longer faster.

Foods for Healthy Hair – the website had moved.

      http://health.yahoo.com/experts/healthie…

Fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains all supply B-complex vitamins, like biotin, folic acid and vitamin B12, as well as vitamin A, copper and zinc, which are all necessary for remedying dry, brittle hair and nourishing a healthy scalp. Some prime examples of foods that contain these nutrients for healthy hair include:
      ·                     Folic Acid – asparagus, beets, broccoli, avocados, Brussels sprouts, beans, chickpeas, soybeans, lentils, oranges, fresh peas, turkey and spinach.
      ·                     Biotin – cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved.
      ·                     Vitamin B12 – foods rich in vitamin B12 include animal protein (such as beef, lamb, and veal), clams and oysters, liver, fish, milk, and egg yolks.
•Vitamin A – butter, egg yolks, fish, fortified milk, organ meats (such as liver), and dark green, orange, red, and yellow fruits and vegetables, which all contain beta-carotene.
•Copper – oysters and other shellfish, whole grains, beans, nuts, potatoes, and organ meats are good sources of copper. Dark leafy greens, dried fruits such as prunes, cocoa, black pepper, and yeast are also sources of copper in the diet.
•Zinc – beef, eggs, liver, pork, poultry, and oysters. Also is also abundant in other high-protein foods, like cheese, legumes and nuts.
If having a lush, beautiful mane of healthy hair is important to you, don’t just look to hot oil treatments and shine emollients. Eat these foods for healthy hair and say “bye-bye” to bad hair days.

So many reasons why you have hair loss:

Supplements, steroids, hereditary, hair dyes perming, straightening, diet, having babies (yes I read once it happened to her), stress, medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne, and too much of everything. Add to that the 7,000 + toxics found in your home, plus pollution found outdoors. Your hair is crying for help!
When your teeth falls or get cavities, do you blame the toothpaste?

When your hair is crying for help, that’s when it’s too late to do anything about it, and hair products can not reverse the problem.

They also say you normally lose 100-200 hair a day, but I don’t. I lose about 7-8 every time I brush it, so that’s about 100 per week, give or take.

The majority of hair problems here are from girls in their 30s, asking how to care for their damaged hair, what product to make their hair grow, why their hair falls out, and why their shampoo or conditioner don’t work. Women between 60-80 have that same problem, but it took them years to get there. And those same 30 & under girls are giving advice here? Go figure!

Even the cheapest shampoo can do magic for your hair, so it must be what you’re doing AFTER you wash it. Shampoos and vitamins might make your hair look and feel healthier, but they won’t put more hairs on your head.

According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated 6 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Don’t let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.

      Source(s):
      Hair DX
I know hair. I am in my early 60′s, and I’ve been having menopause, and I am not experimenting hair loss, for those who said I don’t know what I’m talking about when it comes to hair. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy long hair. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing. What you see on my profile is what I have now. It’s as thick as when I’m in my teens.
Stress, seldom. I went through stress when both parents died, plus sister taking me to court & selling the house, on my own and still no hair loss here!

  37. QUESTION:
    Hair loss problem?
Are there any natural supplements (vitamins) or diets to slow down the process of hair loss? Also – what hair products are good for thinning hair?

    • ANSWER:
Healthy hair grows in a cyclical pattern; a strand of hair grows for a while, then it falls out and its root takes a rest before sprouting again. Balding occurs when hair roots never “wake up” again! This is the case with “male pattern baldness,” which is especially common when hair growth begins to slow, around age 50 or 60. It is the male hormone testosterone, helped along by certain genes, that encourages hair roots to shut down. Genetic researcher and dermatologist Mary Sawaya, M.D., headed a team from the University of Florida in Miami that discovered certain enzymes in balding scalps that double testosterone’s potency and thus discourage hair growth. Because of this enzyme-testosterone connection, this harmless but distressing problem afflicts mostly men—and a lot of them. Over half of North American men are destined to go bald.

  38. QUESTION:
MAJOR causes of hair loss vs simple maintanence?
Okay, I KNOW that its important for optimum hair health for it to be healthy from inside/root by good nutrition and maybe vitamins AND the length by propper trims, conditioning, an maybe hot oils at all times. What I really want to know is simple: if someone suddenly experienced major hair loss because of stress or a pregnancy (both which are known to cause hair loss) or whatever other reason, would suddenly cutting their length off or deep conditioning it/maintaning it form the outside make any difference since the cause was something so sudden that generally I would imagine it might not matter? My opinion is that if the hair was going to fall off because of major events as I mentioned, it won’t matter if your hair on the outside (which is already dead) is long or short, has split ends or is soft as butter. Does this make sense? I’m only referring to outside treatment not nutrition or vitamin etc.

    • ANSWER:
There is nothing you can do when it comes to sudden hair loss, you have to let it take it’s course of shedding. A doctor could say that it is normal for hair loss to happen during pregnancy this type of hair loss is called Postpartum Alopecia and is experienced at the conclusion of pregnancy.

This sudden hair loss can happen in excess and last three to nine months after delivery. Normal growth cycles usually return w/in a year.

Alopecia Areata is the sudden falling out of hair in round patches or baldness in spots; can appear elsewhere on the body. This type is highly unpredictable and is usually an autoimmune disease that cause the affected hair follicles to be mistakenly attacked by the person’s own immune system, with white blood cells stopping hair growth. (caused by Stress or other health problem)

When someone has delivered their child I suggest to always continue taking prenatal vitamins and iron so that the blood can keep receiving more nutrients. The hair always receive nutrients from the inner body. A balanced diet and exercise can stimulate hair growth.

Types of food to stay away from during this time of hair loss:

ALL JUNK FOOD: Pizza, chips, candy, etc.
      Soda: Diet Pepsi, anything diet
Sugars or Fake Sugars: Splenda, Phenylalanines (splenda is a phenylalanine, do your research this sugar is in just about every sweet food; when you are in a grocery line check the back of a package of Trident and you will see it) are in alot of sweet candies, sodas, and gums, also be careful of splenda in yogurts or sweet waters
Fried Foods: chicken, fries, etc. (deep fried foods that is..)
Grains & Wheat: oatmeal, did you know that oatmeal can turn to fungus? (research it)

Foods to nourish your body during this time of sudden loss of hair:

Water, Water, Water: Add a lemon, lime or orange
      ALL RAW VEGGIES
      ALL RAW FRUITS
      Raw veggie and fruit smoothies
Flaxseed oil: you can find recipes on the web; mix with salad or mix with orange juice and pour on salad to taste
      Fish Oils
      Coconut Oils
      Olive Oils
      Dried Fruits & Veggies
      Fish: Salmon, Tuna, Halibut

I could go on and on about this stuff…but I do reccomend these things b/c the more you feed your body REAL FRESH foods, it wil love you for it.

NOTE: For someone whose body is not used to RAW Foods, they may feel ill because the body is not used to this type.

  39. QUESTION:
what are the best vitamins for maintaining good health?
To eliminate that tired feeling, supplement poor nutrition habits, dry skin, loss of hair.

    • ANSWER:
Vitamins that use Fructose compounding are the best. They allow 96-98% cellular absorption of the minerals more than any other on the market. That is why they have a scientific patent. Liquid vitamins tend to separate and do not taste very good usually, colloidal vitamins have a decent absorption rate but that type of compounding limits absorption to under 50% of minerals.

  41. QUESTION:
    My hair is getting thinner?
I’m currently in my last month of A Levels and I’m very stressed with school work. I’ve had blood tests done to test my thyroid, liver, for diabetes and anemia etc, but they were all fine. I have been getting very dry skin and swollen glands and just look very unhealthy and tired lately, but I’ve realised a lot of this may be due to my lifestyle. I’m not very healthy and don’t exercise much and haven’t been looking after myself and sleeping well. I have felt like this on and off since I was very ill with tonsillitis in winter last year.

I was wondering what food or vitamins etc are good for preventing hair loss or thickening the hair? I’m starting to find this very distressing, because I loved my thick hair and it gave me a lot of confidence and now it feels like one pig tail in my hand when I gather it all together. I don’t have any bald patches or coming out in clumps or anything like that, just a lot of hairs are coming out and it’s noticably thinner.

I’ve started a healthy diet now and going for a 40 min bike ride everyday, but does anyone have any tips or advice on getting my hair back? :(
Also, I forgot to mention, my scalp is very itchy and feels hard and tight.

I am so afraid to take a shower because my hair falls out so badly and after I take a shower I barely have to run my fingers through my hair and I tons and tons of hair falls out. I used to have like 60% more hair than what I have now. It is really scaring me because I don’t know why Im losing so much. I’m not too stressed out much, no one in my family has hair loss problems, and I supplement vitamins everyday. My mom says I should just cut it really short but I think I would look TERRIBLE with short short hair. Would that even help the hair loss problem?Oh and also, I used to brush my hair after taking a shower all the time until I heard that was bad for it so I stopped. But I am still losing a lot of hair. 45. QUESTION:
Puppy has hair loss and one lesion on both corners of his mouth?
We took our puppy to the vet yesterday to check on hair loss around his mouth area. Funny thing is, it is fairly symmetrical but slightly more on his left side. Near the hair loss is a small dot, a lesion that has scabbed. She did a skin scrape to check for sarcoptic mange and it came out negative. She said to just watch out for it before she decides what to do next. He is a horrible and picky eater and we’ve tried alot of stuff (witholding treats, food) to make him eat his daily intake but no go. I do try to feed him good food, Orijen, which is highly rated and is full of healthy oils. But he doesn’t like it? Can the hair loss be a vitamin deficiency? Any other ideas?

    • ANSWER:
I’m not familiar with Orijen. Who manufactures it & what’s in it? Never mind, I looked it up and it appears to be a super premium kibble -great list of ingredients.

Is there redness in the ears, bottom of the feet, around the nose and/or eyes? Hair loss by nose/eyes? Any itching? This could be brought on by seasonal allergies, plants, trees, grasses in bloom.

If he’s not eating well I would consider changing his diet. Maybe to one of their other products? Puppies need a good kibble to promote balanced growth and reduce potential growth issues. Speak with the breeder to see if there are similar reactions in any of the other pups.
This could be an allergic reaction, a vaccine reaction (when did he get his last vaccine and what was it?)

Vets will typically prescribe an antibiotic (avoid the steriods -that’s the usual path that’s taken), suggest a change in diet and provide a special shampoo that should be done a few times a week. This doesn’t fix the problem, it just covers it up.

    • ANSWER:
anyway as we know hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago I suffered very much from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A – an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The ‘B’ vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also I used herbal treatment – TrichoZed
It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/why.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) – a major cause of hair loss!
