Gro Hair Shampoo

The line from the nursery rhyme ‘how does your garden grow’ is very analogous to ‘how does your hair grow’. Use the same mindset when thinking of how a garden grows, it runs parallel to the way hair grows, how well it grows is completely a result of what is happening ‘underground’.

Hair grows in three different cycles; anagen, catagen, and telogen. The anagen is the growth phase, and just about 90% of the hair on the head is in this stage, this can last anywhere from two to eight years.

We then find the catagen, or transition phase, will typically last two to three weeks, during this period the hair follicle shrinks, and the resting period for the hair is the telogen cycle, which lasts around two to four months.

The hair is growing for the majority of time it is on the scalp, and only about 10% of the strands are in transition or resting at any one time, thus hair grows about six inches a year for most people.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, most people lose anywhere from 50 to 100 strands of hair each day, and on hair wash days the loss can be up to 250 strands, but still this should not stop you washing your hair in an attempt to keep the hair, just use a quality shampoo for your hair type, to avoid shampooing will not make any difference to the fall out.

If you are prone to having bad hair days, the problem might be because you have damaged hair. This of course is not a life-or-death situation, nevertheless no one wants to go through life with damaged hair, it can set the tone of the sort of day you are going to have and can put you in a bad mood.

All is not lost as there are hair treatments on the market to treat damaged hair. There are many things that can damage hair, chemicals perm or dye, very hot blow drying, extensions and swimming in chlorine, and because many women are exposed to at least one of these hair-weakening conditions, damage to the hair is inevitable.

To prevent damaged hair the solution is simple, deep condition your hair by using really good quality conditioners, apply to the hair and do not wash out immediately, there are conditioners on the market that can be left in overnight and washed out the next morning with a gentle shampoo, or even use a leave in conditioner.

Quality hair products are essential and you will know yourself if you have chosen well, your hair will feel great, easy to comb, not be flyaway, and your scalp not dry and itchy after shampooing, and a spokesman for Fabriah professional hair products online said “yes quality is everything and the product has to be fit for purpose, the consumer must use the right hair care products for their particular type of hair, we stock top or the range hair products, and address every eventuality that crops up with the care of hair, we can offer the customer products for cold protection, sun damage recovery, products for blondes, brunettes, and have a huge selection of gift ideas including our fabulous hair straighteners, also many special offers”.

To ensure healthy hair, the right hair products, and a good nutritional diet will all play their part, so make the right choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Doo Gro Shampoo bad for hair?
Because it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is harsh and can damage hair? Many people have recommended it. Also for people who’ve tried organix shampoo do you recommend it? I have dry hair and i’m trying to find shampoo that hydrates, moisturizes, and smells good. Yeah i know, a lot to ask for but if you can find one thanks so much!

    • ANSWER:
I think it is bad for your hair. One of the reasons is, because it has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which drys out the hair, another reason is because, have you ever noticed the winners of the Doo gro contest, go onto the Doo Gro website and click on the top for the picture of the contest winner, her hair looks horrible, and she says she uses all the Doo Gro hair products :( that’s not a good sign. Last month’s winner also had really damaged hair, so Doo Gro shampoo in my opinion may not be your best bet. I just recently found Abba’s Pure Moisture Shampoo, one word WOW, it is all natural, and it REALLY moisturizes your hair, you don’t even need to apply conditioner if you don’t want to. The conditioner smells like peppermint. I’ve tried Organix’s coconut milk leave in conditioner spray, it made my hair smell heavenly, but I stopped using it because I felt like it didn’t do anything beneficial for my hair. Based on reviews for the coconut milk shampoo, not alot of people liked it, people said it stripped their hair and made it hard. Hope this helps!!!!

Hi I’m Wondering Does Doo Gro Shampoo Work On Just African American Hair Or Can It Work For Any Kind Of Hair?
Hi I’m Wondering Does Doo Gro Shampoo Work On Just African American Hair Or Can It Work For Any Kind Of Hair Types No Matter What Race You Are?Cause Omg I Want To Grow My Short Hispanic Hair Please Help Me ASAP!!!

    • ANSWER:
Oh, please…. stop with the caps!!!

That is a very insensitive and politically incorrect statement to make.

Shampoo is shampoo and it works on any kind of hair, human or animal, on African or Hispanic or even Caucasian. There is no difference as to races… humans are pretty much the same.

Humans are very gullible. They will buy anything that promises to grow hair (and someone will be around to take your money) when we all know there is no such thing as a shampoo that will make your hair grow. Just treat it well, and it grows — if you are healthy.

Does Doo Gro shampoo make hair grow fast? ?

    • ANSWER:
Hi there, what products like these do is they don’t actually make your hair your hair grow faster they just coat your hair to prevent breakage.

The best things to promote hair growth are:
Avoid hot styling tools such as hair straighteners and let your hair try naturally whenever you can.
Massage your scalp several times a day as this stimulates hair follicles.
Try to reduce the stress in your life.
A nutritious diet consisting of foods rich in B vitamins, proteins, iron etc. So, replace your empty calories with healthy foods like spinach, beans, broccoli, green bell peppers, lettuce, milk, fish, strawberries, avocados, tomatoes, bananas, apricots, yogurt, soy products, oregano, flaxseeds, nuts, whole grains etc. You can also take supplements, if needed.
      Trim split end regularly.
      I hope this helps!

im using mane n tail body shampoo & doo gro oil will this help prevent hair breakage & promote hair growth?
i wash my hair once a week & put doo gro stimulating growth oil everyday & my hair had grew a couple inches long i can see results

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like its working! I do a similar routine. I wash my hair once a week, blow dry, straighten, and put oils in it. I focus mostly on my hair and not my scalp though. I put oil on my scalp once or twice a week and it doesnt absorb it so quickly. I can put oil and some times grease on my hair and ends and it absorbs it very quickly as well. So as long as your hair is absorbing it as quickly as you are applying it, and youre washing the dirty oils out so you can put fresh oils in, you should be good! BTW, I think your hair is growing and becoming stronger more so because of the Mane n Tail, that stuff is like hair crack. LOL. The oil is good too though.

Is Doo Gro shampoo only for African American people?
I’m Asian, but i have thin hair so i wanted to try it out. but researching kinda pointed to the fact that maybe it’s only for black people or like a certain ethnicity. would it be okay?

    • ANSWER:
Actually, as an African American Girl, I use Doo Grow religiously. My hair is not thin, its just fine.. I use it to keep my hair strong, because I don’t use relaxers or straighteners. Honestly I can’t give you a definite yes or no to your question, but i can tell you that Doo Gro products will be a great choice if your interested.. you can start with just one product (but use it sparingly!!), and see how it works for you!

      Good Luck!!

p.s. how is your hair cut?? maybe you should consider getting it cut in a blunt style to give the appearance of it being fuller, that’s always a quick solution. And the style doesn’t have to be short, sometimes just an inch or so can make all the difference!!

    Hair Shampoo and Conditioner?
What is the best shampoo for african american hair?? Besides doo gro or dr. miracles

    Does triple gro shampoo help…?
I have a dry and a flaky scalp and i also want to grow my hair. Everytime i moisturise my hair it get dry quickly and then become flaky again. I was thinking to change my shampoo. I live in the UK and i was wondering is Triple gro shampoo a good shampoo to use? What are the ingredients? If it’s not what other shampoo are better and consider if i am able to get it where i live.Much appreciated.
at sur la mere. i dont use any heating tools, i don’t like using a straightener and when i use a hair dryer it’s on cold all the time. I’m asking if the shampoo is okay because i have dry and flaky scalp. your answer didnt help me, its lecturing me, thats not what i asked for. have a good day.
Btw, my hair is at my back too. No need to brag, nobody needed to know.

    • ANSWER:
Too many things happening here. Let’s tackle one at a time.

The sun is very damaging & drying, even get sunburn, so does the hair.
Washing in hot water, if it’s bad for baby skin, so does the hair.
Too many shampoos per week, 2x is enough.
Alcohol products, hair sprays or gel containing alcohol, very drying.
      Chemicals, perming, hair dyeing, chlorine.
Hair straightening tools or curling tools, even with hair protectant sprays or lotions, does not protect hair 100%.
Hair dryer, I use it but only for 5 mins per wash, per week, longer than, too drying.

You need to eliminate the cause before you see any improvement on your hair.

The hair industry is a billion dollar business. Their main job is to make tons of money, but they don’t give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to ‘abuse’. They can say anything they want on their shampoo, to attract several buyers with several hair problems, but shampoo is shampoo. Google it. They are meant to clean. Conditioner or oil is another form to keep hair moisturized, and as you’ve experienced it helps some but did no good.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product don’t actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain… along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.

It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you’re adding to the hair, not the shampoo . If you’re having cavities, or teeth falling out one after another, you don’t change toothpaste.

No shampoo is better than the other.

    • ANSWER:
The hair goes through three phases: growth phase, stops growing, starts shedding. Each hair strand on your head is in a different phase of this cycle. Also, the growth phases are usually between 2-6 years. People with 6 years of straight growth are the ones you see with extremely long hair (assuming they keep it from breaking off). Those on a short growth cycle tend to have short hair. Nothing can change this. If your hair is on a 4 year growth phase then one strand might be in the shedding phase, another in it’s second year of the growth cycle, and another in the 3rd year of the growth cycle.

But, all your hair at once will not be in the same cycle. Make sure your hair is not breaking because usually your hair is growing but you’re not seeing the growth because it’s breaking off. If it’s breaking off badly then you could actually lose length. Visit the long hair care forum ( and you’ll get some tips and product recommendations for growing your hair long again. You can’t post there unless you pay, but you can read the threads and proceed from there.

You might also want to consider going natural again so you can have healthier hair. It could be the perm that’s breaking off your hair, or, if you’re using a lot of heat then that could also be the culprit. Also, consider it could be something your doing to your hair to cause all the breakage/damage.

Buy a deep conditioner, something that’s specifically anti-breakage, and use that once a week. You also might want to switch to a shampoo and conditioner that’s has an anti-breakage forumula. When you wash always use a leave-in conditioner to help keep your hair protected, and find a daily moisturizer that’s also anti-breakage.

Does A Double Portion Super Gro Shampoo Work?
I REALLY REALLY want my hair to grow out fast. Does this stuff work?!?
    Thanks so much! :)

    • ANSWER:
yes also try doo gro lotion it works great

Hair/Shampoo question. Is there a shampoo to make hair grow faster?
I’ve heard Mane and Tale works well, and I’ve also heard of Doo Gro and Profectiv.
I was wondering what worked best?
I know massaging your scalp and drinking water helps, but I’d like my hair to grow a bit quicker.
Extensions are way too expensive and I can’t afford them currently. I’m going to an anime convention (Anime North) and the girl I’m going as has extremely long hair.
I’d rather not buy a wig because I have a lot of things I still have to pay for, so yeah, I’d really like to know which shampoo will do best and make my hair a bit longer by then.
I know it’s probably impossible for it to grow that quick, but I can hope right?

How Do I make My African American Hair Grow?
Just yesterday I had a sewn-in weave taken out after almost 2 months. I have permed my hair, and I really want my hair to grow. I dont want to wear weave anymore I want to use my real hair. I bought yesterday, some Doo Gro porducts-shampoo, and mosturizer. And I plan to us those, but is there any thing else I can do to make it grow. Anything else I should be doing?
and the product line doo grow, does it actually work , or did I just waste money?

    • ANSWER:
One answer….PHYTOPHANÈRE. These are hair and nair supplements. I would give my scalp a rest from the weaves. Invest in some really good products; keep your hair trimmed every three-four weeks; stay away from perms for a few months if you can; deep condition your hair every other washing.

Is Mane ‘n Tail Herbal Gro Shampoo work just fine?
I have this problem with my hair. Last week, I’ve decided to have a hair relax in order to prepare my self in a special event, but it was so unfortunate that that gay who works on my hair put a lots of chemical that makes my scalp feel pain. And now one day after that, i take a bath and when i comb my hair, i lost lots of it . Usually, i have a thick hair and now, it became so thin and I am afraid i might loss all my hair.

I thought of buying a shampoo that could help my hair grow back to its normal thickness, and strengthenen my remaining hair. So yesterday, I saw this “Mane ‘n Tail Olive Oil Complex Herbal grow”, thinking that it might help me. So guys, what do you think? Please help me. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
No. Shampoos are meant for cleaning hair, eating is for growing and you can’t speed up time, nor can you speed ‘perfection.’
Mane & Tall should have been the number 1 shampoo in the industry for growing hair. Mane & Tail is another shampoo meant for horses. Horses don’t abuse their hair, using heating tools, and they eat better than people, but it won’t add more hair & make their hair longer faster.

I would NOT have recommend you get a relaxer. The hair industry is a billion dollar business and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to ‘abuse’.
Keratin are not approved by the FDA. Visit their website & search for it in their web. If you’re thinking about the Brazilian treatment, there’s a danger about using formaldehyde, a chemical that causes cancer. The FDA does not restrict the use of that chemical in cosmetics.

A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment.
“A big red flag: About a month after she started using Brazilian Blowout on clients, Scrutton had the first nosebleed of her life.”

(Type it in if they moved the page. “After hairstylist becomes suspicious of Brazilian Blowout, tests find formaldehyde”.

Canada had issued a public health warning regarding Brazilian Blowout and has stopped the distribution of their salon product; Ireland has also issued a recall. ~ Also published in Vogue Feb. 2011.

Stylists and clients often wear gas masks or other protective equipment and still may feel the ill effects of this potentially fatal gas. Many customers and stylists do not know that this Brazilian treatment often contains high concentrations of formaldehyde, a cancer-causing chemical.
Shampoo intended for animals may contain insecticides or other medications for treatment of skin conditions or parasite infestations such as fleas or mange. These must never be used on humans.

Anyone should understand the logic why the hair industry is a billion dollar business. This is a marketing gimmick, and they don’t even give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to abuse.

Save your money instead of buying hair growth products or supplements. Vogue Dec. 2010, Vogue Feb. 2011 issue has a section on biotin, supplements, fish oil, etc. . Fish oil for example: Read the labels if they state that it contains: “one or more of the following: Cod, English Whiting, Shark.”

The FDA don’t even approve of them. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality don’t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.
Beginning in February 2008, they experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, hair loss, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off. FDA has received numerous reports of harm associated with the use of these products, including stroke, liver injury, kidney failure, heart palpitations, and death. 3-15-11

Google: MSN “Vitamins Can Do More Harm Than Good.”
According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated 6 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Don’t let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.

CNN, Slate, Consumer Reports, MSN, YAHOO have posted them online for years how people spend billion per year on vitamins and supplements.  According to Everyday Health, here’s an article that will tell you why . . . those PRODUCTS by any other name do NOT WORK.  It is false advertisements.

Best advice from Hollywood’s well known hairstylist in the 80′s once said: “Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair.”

If you’ve straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: “Foods for Healthy Hair” – the website had moved, type it in.

Growing healthy hair doesn’t come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you’re in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you’re eating healthy foods. But when hair isn’t growing as fast, it’s because they’ve been tempered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.

I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees, started growing them in 2003. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80′s & 90′s. I’ve known people in their 30′s whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70′s.

    • ANSWER:

How Can the Vitamins Help Me Grow Longer Hair?

You must understand the basic principles of hair growth to understand how the hair vitamins your hair grow longer.

Hair naturally grows about a half inch per month. It grows in three phases: growing, resting, and shedding. Each and every hair on your head must go through these three phases. Thankfully, about 90% of you hair is in the growth phase at any given time. This is why you never notice your hair going into the other phases. The growth phase can last from 2 to 6 years, and it is genetically determined before you are even born. This is why some people can grow hair down their backs, while others can only grow it to their shoulders. This is also why many women experience more hair growth during pregnancy (we explain this here).

It works like this…….If your growth phase lasts 3 years, your hair can possibly grow 18 inches. (36 months at a half inch per month). This is the maximum because it would have to have never been cut or broken to reach this length. On the other hand, if your growth phase lasts 6 years, it will grow double that, or 36 inches. But you may say that “the growth phase is genetically determined, and you can’t do anything about that”. WRONG. Hair vitamins with MSM can actually increase your growth phase. If your hair vitamins also contain the nutrients known for speeding up hair growth like Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Folic Acid (B-9), etc, then your hair will not only grow longer, but faster too.

      What Makes HairFinity DIFFERENT?

Many companies sell hair vitamins and promise longer stronger hair in a month simply from using hair vitamins alone. Customers become disappointed when their hair is not growing faster with the use of the hair vitamins. At HairFinity, we understand what it takes to grow hair its longest. We have done extensive research on hair structure and growth, hair products, etc. We know what works and what doesn’t. This is why we publish lots of free information about hair growth. We do not exist to sell you information that could have a great effect on your hair growth. We want everyone to have access to this information. We want everyone to know what it really takes to grow long strong hair.

Nioxin vs. Doo Gro shampoo: Your results?
What results have you gotten from either of these shampoos? Thickness? Healthiness? Growth? Did either leave your hair greasy or stringy after awhile? What’s generally the better shampoo? Nioxin is a little more expensive but not by much. I’ve tried both and I can’t decide which one is better, but I want to buy whatever has better realistic results and reviews.

Looking for New Shampoo , conditoner , and deep conditioner for african american hair help me plz?
I am looking for a new shampoo, condtioner and deep condtioner that is not too expensive, that i can find almost anywhere ( i live in a small country town so some good products are hard to find) , leaves my hair soft, silky ,manageable , tangle free, hydrated , strong and shiny.
My hair: I have very course 4a/b hair. Sometimes when water hit it or when i wash it draws up and looks short. Its very dry and as soon as i apply something it sucks it up quick then ends up even drier. It is a little past shoulder length and it gets tangled a lot . ( especially at the roots ugh) The ends sometimes look a little split end ish and choppy. I trim my ends but that doesnt seem to help. I do relax my hair btw.
Shampoos i have tried so fair and failed: Silk elements, Pantene Pro-v, Pantene for colored women, herbal essence, aphogee, garnier fructis, suave, white rain,Motions, Infusium-23,, doo-gro, dr . miracle, organic root stimulator ( my hair hates olive oil), V05,and some others.
I would try keracare but they dont have any avail in my area :( can somebody help me? I am trying to get to bra strap length at the same time i want to have a very healthy head of hair.

    • ANSWER:
I would try using some organic hair products like giovanni or aubrey’s organics. You can find them at walmart or target. Most of the shampoo’s you listed contain sulfates which are really bad for your hair. I would think that the reason your hair is damaged is because you have a relaxer, I went natural about 2 years ago and my hair is healthier than it’s ever been.

Is it bad to part and grease hair?
Is it bad to part and grease hair after shampoo and conditioner(WEN). I use Bronner Bros. Super Gro with vitamins, it’s this light lime green grease and is very smooth and not so heavy on my hair. It does keep my hair healthy and smooth and moisturized but it doesn’t do anything for my ends, which look a little dry and split. Thanks in advance.

    • ANSWER:
yes it is very bad to use grease on any part of your hair. if you look at the ingredients on the back of your jar of grease the main ingredients will either say Petrolatum or mineral oil and sometime even both. well those ingredients in particular are horrible for the hair, they clog the hair pores (the follicles) preventing the hair from breathing or taking in oxygen or any moisture from the atmosphere, second by the grease doing that it will cause more breakage and third, grease actually attracts more dirt so your hair will tend to smell more dirty and look dull and dirty quicker before its time to wash adn you should be washing your hair every week, and your should condition your HAIR everyday.

What is the best product for hair growth?
I have eczema and bad hair damage.
    I am deciding between:
Mane ‘n Tail Deep Moisturizing Shampoo
    Doo Gro
    Dr. Miracle
I am african-american, so I don’t want Pantene, Avon, and stuff like that cause I know it won’t work for my type of hair.
What is the best product that can help hair growth?
    Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
You can try braiding your hair and keeping moisture in it.

Wrapping your hair often allows your hair to grow a lot.

You should comb your hair everyday this lets the air flow through and gives the roots time to breathe and stretch out. Doo Gro does work and so does Dr. Miracle. I do not use either one of them but my mom has and it doesn good for her. You may want to try finding a beauty shop where you can go to either bi-weekly or weekly or if that is not available, you can do a hot oil treatment just by using a shower cap and either hair grease or some kind of oil. I know a lot of tricks when it comes to hair growth its all about you take care and treat your hair. but if you think you have a serious problem you may want to go to the doctor. you can email me at for more tips if you’d life.

i want to grow my hair out for good now, how do i do this?
im 14 and all my life my hair has been above my shoulders never below. i want to grow my hair out. to do this i decided to use doo gro shampoo conditioner and hair lotion. (all doo gro products). i will shampoo my hair once a week and condition it after shampooing. i will use the hair lotion everyday because my hair is dry and i hear im suppose to keep it moist. i will also wrap my hair in a satin scarf at night. am i missing anything? do you think this will work for me? im black and so tired of short hair.

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately, it has a lot to do with genetics. If your family doesn’t have long hair, then you mostly likely will not have long hair. A few things that you could also do to help keep your hair healthy is stay away from putting any extra heat on it and using gel because they damage your hair. I use Redkin’s Smooth Down product for my hair and they work great, I’m African American with thick long hair. They keep your hair moisturized, not oily, and give it a lot of volume. It is a little expensive so I suggest you start with the Heat Glide and start you way up. It’s a good investment thought that last for a long time.

I was told by a beauty salon, that Doo Gro would help my hair grow, so I went and brought the Shampoo and Conditioner, with the Hair Vitalizer. I washed my hair and the next thing my hair was just coming out by the hand full. I am a woman of color and have fine thin hair, my hair was down just to the shoulders and now it is almost gone, and now have to start all over growing. What happened, It says that you can use on treated hair and I color my hair. I’m embarrasses now and have to wear it back in a attachment pony tail or a wig now. I’m very dissapointed in your product. Can you help me now?

    • ANSWER:
I don’t know if that was the Doo Gro, I use ONLY Doo Gro products in my hair and I love it because it really works, but I also use it in conjunction with vitamins. Don’t mess up your hair more with weaves go to a dermatologist so they can prescribe prescription strength hair growth products, my best friend is black and she also uses doo gro with excellent results and she never had a problem growing her hair even before using it, she just likes that it makes her hair healthy.

Doo gro uses very limited chemicals in their products, and the chemicals they do use if you look them up online you will see they are to create lather and volume, they dont even use silicone in their oils, just pure oil.

what would a texturizer do to virgin tightly curled hair?
I have virgin hair that has not been permed before. It is very curly and wavy. it’s frizzy. it’s cropped to the back of my neck. I want it to lay flat like the hispanics curly hair. I want it not to be tightly curled. Just laying lay like the hispanics’ hair. I use garner soft curl cream, sunsilk de-frizz conditioner, John freida’s curl perfector, and garner maximum hold hairspray. I use doo-gro herbal shampoo, and do a olive oil treatment once a week.

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately, nothing will make your hair curl like “Hispanic” women’s hair exept GENETICS like they have.

A texturizer will work in loosening-up your tight curls but I doubt it will do what you want it too do. A texturizer is like a mild version of a Jerry Curl. So you will get some curls but it wont be exactly what you are looking for. It will be somewhere inbetween.

A texturizer semi-relaxes your hair and does not fully straighten it. People usually get texturizers so that they can wear their hair straight or curly. However, the more frequently you texturize your hair, the straighter it will become.

Most of the time you can tell when someone has a texturizer (s-curl) in their hair. If you take care of it, it will look nice but most people (especially black people) will be able to tell.

This is an example of the look.

    Best shampoo for african-american hair?
Preferabbly natural shampoo for thinning hair…

I’m a black man with a regular low cut…but my hair is thinning and my hairline is receding…so I want something that might help or at the very least not hurt what hair I have left.

In my research I’ve been told NOT to use shampoos that have sodium laurel sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, or amonnium laurel sulfate. My current shampoo has two of these ingridients. Needless to say, I will not be using it.

Someone recommended me Doo Gro, but it has sodium laureth sulfate as the second ingredient.

    Please help…what do I use?

    • ANSWER:
There are many natural and organic shampoos on the market. Giovanni, Yes to Carrots, and Dr Bonners are just a few. You can find them in a health foods store, some Walgreens carry them, and other stores might carry them. Dr. Bonners is 100% natural and certified organic. Giovanni and Yes to Carrots have a high percentage or organic ingredients, are natural, and are certified organic (confusing, I know). Pureology and Wen (which I use) are natural hair care lines along the higher price range.

Stay out of beauty supply stores if you want something good for your hair. The good products are sold in salons.

I bought some from GNC. I heard they help the hair growing procces.
I cant seem to grow my hair past my shoulders! I use DOO GRO (Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, deep condition one a week, lotion, and grease)

So i just want so good suppliment pills to help speed upt he process

    • ANSWER:
I don’t know about your growing process, but yes, Biotin and deep sea fish oil could improve not only your hair conditions but also your skin. I have seborrheic dermatitis, so i take high doses of biotin (5000 mcg).

How can I get my hair to gro longer and healthier?
My hair grows REALLY SLOW. It’s pretty healthy right now (i don’t see split ends). It’s like halfway down my chest and I just want it a couple inches longer. I have massaged my scalp. I have massaged my hair in olive oil waited a half hour and then washed it. (it made my hair a lot healthier!) I am a vegitarian so I do have trouble getting the protein I need. I usually french braid my hair at night/ braid it. Should I use main n tail shampoo/ conditioner?? I can’t take pills or anything. My only problem with the main n tail is that I use special stuff for my read hair (dyed) so should I mix it with the mail n tail? Also I am trying to say away from heat. What else can I do?

    • ANSWER:
The best way to get your hair to grow is to focus on your diet. Protein and healthy fats are very important. You can also improve your hair growth with vitamins like biotin, pantothenic acid, Inositol, and MSM. Talk to your doctor before you take anything.

Check out the article link below for more info about making your hair grow healthier. Good luck!

Is it rude if you bring your how hair products when visiting the hair salon?
I really like my entire hair care line called Spartan Brand’s Triple Gro products and used it’s conditioning shampoo, rebuilder, and leave in tonic at home many times and are the only products that I’m really satisfied with it bringing health to the root of my hair.I’m thinking of bringing the washing set to my regular favorite salon, I remember someone telling that it’s rude to bring your own hair products in the salon even though before I brought some of my old hair products there. Is it really considered rude or is it okay?
    Thank you guys :-)

    • ANSWER:
I’m a stylist, and I would suggest you have a conversation about the products you like with your hair stylist.

If your stylist really cares about you and what works best for your hair, they would purchase the products and have them available for use at the salon.

Each client’s hair is different, and sometimes requires a different product. And sometimes I have to use different products on different people. But be prepared, if you are the only client using that particular line, the stylist may charge a premium to purchase it.

There’s some liability with allowing clients to bring products in the salon from the “outside.”

It is safer for us to purchase the products ourselves and have them available for use at the salon.

I have had clients buy products from unreliable beauty stores, and the shelf life of the product had expired.

Or they have it at home, and don’t know how long it’s been sitting under their bathroom sink. Or they don’t recall what other products they may have used that could potentially cause an adverse reaction.

So, I personally prefer to have a discussion with the client about the products they want me to use. Then I research it and see if I think some of my other clients may benefit from it. And if it’s a good product… I invest in it.

If I have to buy it for just one person, I include a one time premium charge.

But I don’t allow outside products. I like to have control of knowing the client’s history with the product… under my care.

I hope that helps! Good luck!

is there a shampoo out there that makes hair grow faster?
ive heard rumors tht mane and tail helps.. and also heard about aloe vera and b.b super gro

    • ANSWER:
mane and tail is full of wax and it builds up on your hair, weighing it down and keeping it coated with the paraffin-type build-up. It does nothing to help hair grow faster, no shampoo can do that, hair is a dead outgrowth and nothing put on those dead cells will have any effect on on the internal follicle and its speed of production for new hair growth.
If you want hair to grow faster, you have to take supplements that work on your body chemistry to support hair’s growth and strength at its genesis…..once it has grown out, it is just dead keratin
Try GNC, they make a supplement called “Nourishair” in formulas for men and women..they are HUGE pills and you have to take 2 daily. There is also a “Hair skin and nails” formula from Andrew Lessman that you can google, that has great ingredients and is easier to swallow, made by ProCaps labs. You can also take large doses of Biotin, sometimes called Vitamin H, take no less than 2500 micrograms daily to support healthy hair growth.

How long can my hair grow this summer?
    I have African American hair
    I’m 13 with short hair
I wash my hair every week with mane n tail shampoo
I don’t use heat on my hair anymore
    I cut my split ends
I braid my hair every week
I work out daily/ eat healthy
I use Dr miracle gro oil twice daily
should I buy some biotin too? How much do they cost?
& what else should I do to grow my hair?
Can it grow about 3 inches?

    • ANSWER:
I am also African American currently growing my hair out.
-I take 5000mcg of Biotin and sometimes folic acid.
-keep washing your hair everyweek and keep it clean.
      - you can still use heat but more like once or twice a week not everyday
      -Brading should help it grow.
      - i have tried dr. miracles but it did not work best for me.
There is this all natural hair growth product for African American hair called Wild Growth Hair Oil. It really does work and if you use it as directed(a few times a week). you can get about 2 inches of hair growth in just one month. peopl have started to compliment my hair and tell me that it is growing. i must say that it does not smell the best and you will smell like grass but that is because it is all natural but you can just cover it up will oil sheen apray or something. You can get it at sally’s and i just bought my second botte the other day.
Good luck on your hair journey!
